How long have you been in the food service industry, Ron?
I’ve been in the food industry for 28 years. First as a customer, than a cook, next as a store manager and lastly as a marketing director.
Was there a particular issue that led you to choosing an all-in-one POS system like Revention?
It was a wide variety of issues and more importantly, the urge to expand our establishment in the most efficient ways possible.
Businesswise, do you feel that modern technology, specifically an all-in-one solution such as Revention, is mandatory in today’s highly competitive restaurant industry?
Yes, an all-in-one solution such as Revention is absolutely mandatory if you would like your business to achieve long-term success.
Do you believe that a POS system has a direct impact on a customer’s experience?
Of course it does. A lot of our customers order online. In that case, they are using our In-Store POS system via their computers and/or mobile devices. The easier it is for both employees and customers to use the POS system effectively, the fewer mistakes there are…and Revention makes it about as easy as it can get.
How do you feel that Revention has added to your brand?
It gave us some really cool technology that our customers LOVE. Fully Integrated Online Ordering is #1 on that list. My favorite thing about online ordering is that the program up sells constantly. When customers are able to see all the possibilities, they tend to add things to their meal they otherwise wouldn’t have. It makes ordering fun for the customer while bringing in extra money for the restaurant.
Had you used a POS system prior to Revention, and if so, what can you tell us about the experience?
It (Aldelo) was lackluster to tell you the truth. The only positive that came out of it is that we learned a whole lot about what we don’t want
in a POS system. We’ve corrected past errors and are ready to open future locations with Revention starting day 1.
What was the biggest frustration with your previous point of sale provider? What directive led you to research another point of sale solution?
Customer Service, Customer Service, Customer Service.
When referencing “ease of use” how does Revention compare to your previous system? Do you have a particular example on this difference?
I would say Revention is definitely easier to use than our previous POS system. I love how when you click on an item, everything that comes on that particular menu item is highlighted for you. It makes it very easy to customize an order. It’s also great for our employees, so that when a customer asks a question about a particular item, the answer is always right in front of them.
Speed of service is very important for delivery concepts – How does Revention assist in speeding up operations?
We installed a monitor by the driver station. That monitor makes the whole process of dispatching drivers a breeze. It keeps track of which drive is up next and makes it very easy for drivers to dispatch themselves. The best part about it is that it gives the management team more time to interact with customers that are in the store. Customer Service is our #1 priority.
How much faster do you think operations have sped up for your store since installing Revention?
Revention’s HungerRush platform has given our 2 locations 6,600 online orders in a 7-month period. One of those locations didn’t even have HungerRush until mid-April. Yes this speeds up operations for sure, but more importantly it gives our cashiers the ability to engage with people in the store and on the phone a bit more to make that experience more enjoyable for those customers as well. It’s seriously a win-win for everybody.
In general, how does Revention address your specific needs as a delivery/carry out concept?
It’s surpassed my expectations in every way.
When selecting a POS company, technology should be part of your initiative. This is commonly forgotten as many POS software options were designed on technology platforms that originated over 20 years ago. How would you compare the technology that Revention has to your previous POS provider?
It’s not even comparable. Revention is far ahead of the game in every way imaginable.
When changing POS providers, it is very important to have your entire staff adopt this change. How did your staff react and accept the new Revention POS System?
They absolutely love it. It makes everybody’s job easier and more enjoyable.
If you were to name the best features within Revention, what would they be? How do each of these features compare to your previous POS system?
Fully Integrated Online Ordering & Security Features. Our previous POS didn’t even come close to meeting our expectations, whereas Revention surpassed them constantly.
In terms of training staff on the point of sale system, how would you compare Revention to your previous provider?
It’s very easy to train staff how to use the Revention POS system.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey thus far with Pizza 1?
The most enjoyable part for me has been building our marketing department from the ground up.
Being as successful as you are, what advice would you give to other owner/operators out there like yourself?
Just like in any profession, it’s important to enjoy doing whatever it is you do. Here at Pizza One, we love what we do & that’s partly why we are so successful.
